Thursday was the first three stages of 2026 season. The first stage was won by Elfvyn Evans, who was 5,6 seconds faster than Oliver Solberg, whom in his turn was 5,6 seconds faster than Sebastien Ogier. But it was at the second stage that something unexpected happened. During that 23,8 km long “Esclangon-Seyne-Les-Alpes” stage, Oliver was quickest by over half a minute, making him overtake the lead of Evans by 25,5 seconds. At the third stage, Oliver extended his lead further, making him overnight leader of the rally with an impressive 44,2 seconds margin, and just over a minute quicker than nine time WRC champion Sebastien Ogier in third place.
